Powder Coating Process

1. What about Colors?
Powders are available in almost every color and shade imaginable. Custom colors can be formulated to meet almost any need. 3P stocks many different colors and others are no more than a phone call away. There is an additional charge for special colors in small quantities.
2. What can you paint?
Almost any clean metal surface including aluminum, cold rolled steel, hot rolled steel, hot rolled steel pickle and oil, cast iron, zinc casting, aluminum casting, copper and paintlock-electro galvanized to name a few.
3. Does the part have to be clean?
Absolutely, however, 3P has the equipment and/or the resources to clean most products or projects. The conveyerized washer will handle most projects. We can media blast or otherwise clean your rust or scale problems.
4. Can powder be applied to outdoor products?
Absolutely. We have the powders on hand that are formulated for outdoor use and have UV resistant properties.
5. Is powder coating safe for consumers such as children?
YES. Powder coating is used in children's toys and furniture sold every day. It has the distinction of being one of the most environmentally and consumer friendly products on the market today.
6. What if there is something on the product that is not metal?
The coated parts are cured in an oven at up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit, for up to 30 minutes or more. Any part of your product that cannot withstand this time and temperature must be removed before coating.
7. How much does powder coating cost?
a. Industry - we will need a product and/or a sample of what you need us to coat. We will first help you select the powder product you need and then will issue a formal written quote based on your requirements.
b. Consumers - a few items we will be able to quote over the phone, most we will need to see the product to ascertain cleaning and coating requirements.
